![]() Mysteries: the hidden things of God - the prophet's dream which keeps the angels guessing, the secret stores in Heaven's timeless treasury - each awaiting an appointed hour of revelation. Some have had their day (and history's calendar has been so marked); others await the great celestial cue. The mystery of the incarnate Christ was hidden until the "fullness of time."(11) The mystery of salvation, long foretold by the prophets of Israel, was sealed up until the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. The mystery of the church, the body of Christ, was under wraps for generations until God revealed it to the apostle Paul.(12) Daniel's vision is "shut up and sealed until the time of the end."(13) The day and hour of the second coming of Christ is hidden in the heart of the Father.(14) There is yet another great mystery, a priceless treasure hidden by God Himself, which must be revealed before the coming of the Son of man. This treasure of incomparable worth - so precious, so rare - is a prayer. Its worth is measured by the value of its answer. And its answer - so dearly desired by God - is sure. Footnotes: |
